Bonus Poem Fragment of the Week

First I thought it was traffic. Then the wind
Like sleeping by the weathered ocean.
The dog growled softly at the windowpane.
Her hackles stood up like a forest.

The cat came in. Night called from the woods.
I stood outside tonight and closed my eyes
Swaying like the birches,
Making the sound of the ocean for you.
